I liked it while it lasted. One of the plates keeps popping out now rendering it useless. It is only a year old. Very expensive for only a year. Otherwise it performed very well. If the plate would stay in I would be very happy with it. After reading the reviews, I could not decide between the more expensive Sedu and the Solia. Since I couldn't decide, I purchased both, as Folica has a good 30 day return policy. I bought the 1" because I wanted to make curls occassionally. As soon as I received the flat irons, I plugged them in and went to work on my hair, one side with the Sedu and one side with the Solia. I did not use any special flat iron sprays other than product already in my hair from styling it curly this morning. THE SOLIA WON HANDS DOWN. Reasons: 1)the outside tip on the sedu gets hot and the solia stays cool. I often grab the closed ends of the iron to guide it when I style and don't like it when its too hot to touch and control. 2) The solia does not pinch or pull my hair. Its glide is perfectly smooth. 3)The shine factor with the solia was hands down better than the sedu. 4) an added bonus: it costs $50 less than the sedu. They both heated up quickly, have adjustable temps, and nice long cords. My hair looks fabulous and I love it already. I had my solia for exactly a year when all of a sudden i started to smell something burning!!! when i finally figured out what it was it was my solia! the ceramic plates had litteraly melted off of the iron!! i was devestated because my warrenty had expired the day before it happened!that's the only complaint i have about this it left my hair better than other straighteners! I am a hair stylist, so I have used many different flat irons; Chi, Rusk, Babyliss. This flat Iron is as good if not better than all those. Plus with the adjustable heat that isn't offered on some of the others makes this a great iron. The only iron better is the Croc that Is used for a chemical protein straighten system, and so expensive that we only use the iron for this purpose. I bought this Solia for my daughter 8 months ago and I dropped it a few weeks ago and one of the plates fell out and was hanging by the wires, but it still worked after popping plate back in place. Clip broke that held plate so it kept falling out while using, which was annoying. I just Gorilla glued (only where back of plate and wires were) the plate back and voila- still works no problem. I bought this because I had a CHI previously and had dropped it and water and killed it. I read alot of reviews on it, and knew the risks. And, to tell you the truth, this iron is great. It makes my hair softer to the touch than my CHI did, and does not have a burnt hair smell to it. I love that I can change the temperature settings and the knob for it is in an excellent place and doesn't change or move around when straightening hair. My hair is very curly, and puffy (because I'm half puerto rican and half white), and it really gets it as straight as I want it. It's really great, and a good deal, seeing as I bought the CHI for a hundred dollars on a discount and didn't work as great. I love my solia :] Read all 491 customer reviews ...
