Quit working after 7-8 uses only

I used this flat iron less than ten times. It was never dropped or mishandled in any way. It simply stopped holding a charge. The iron heats up in the cordless mode for only 4 or five seconds and then quits. This is a LOT of money to spend on a cordless flat iron that doesn't work.
Wast of Money....Don't Buy This Horrible Iron!

Bought this flat iron in May 2009. Had to return it a couple of days later b/c the cord would not plug into the charger. Got another one and it never worked w/o being plugged in. Used it a total of 10 times from May 2009 to October 2009. It promptly died...black gooey stuff seeped out of where you plug in the charger into the iron itself. Can't contact the manufacturer b/c their websites {www.soiusa.com & www.ionfxonline.com} are not working sites. The phone number listed is the wrong number too. So much for the 1 yr warranty.
quit working

I had this product for quite a few months before trying to use it. It worked great - twice. The third time I tried to use it, it heated up and then cooled off. After that, it wouldn't heat up at all. This was an expensive flat iron and definitely not worth it at all!!!
cordless feature did function well

There was no value from the cordless feature as it did not retain power for the stated amount of time. I needed to use it plugged in, which was less convenient that other models because of the weight of the cord and battery (which was not rechargeable to a beneficial degree). The iron itself caught my hair and was not as smooth as other models I have used.
it`s almost useless.

it heats up quickly and it straightens fast . . but the cord ALWAYS falls out, & the battery time is like . . 20 minutes. i wouldnt buy it, get a good straightener with a cord and a good humidity fighting product and you'll be set. don't waste your $$$$. (=
Great for on the Go Hair

I love my new "cordless" ceramic flat iron. It is perfect for those wanting hair on the go. I can use it for the last moment just before I step out of my car. I like it even better than my cord type model on my bathroom counter. This model is easy to hold and makes smoother hair. I do wish there was an adapter for the car charger. Sometimes I forget to charge the unit after multiple uses.
No thanks

Difficult to use, feels cheap and doesn't glide through my hair, like my Sedu does. It's also really heavy. I promptly returned it.
The flat iron is supposed to work 45-50 min on battery, but it works for about 15 min on battery.

It was somewhat disappointing. It worked on battery for only 15 min.

I was recently "introduced" to flat irons about a year ago, which was long-overdue as I have curly, frizzy and in the summer - way-out-of-control hair. I already have a plug-in flat iron that I bought a while back but on those occasions where I just want to touch up my hair, it was a real hassle with the cord...so I decided to try this concept and it is marvelous! With the different temperature levels and without the cord it is so convenient - I love mine!
i lovee itt!

i just ordered this straightener recently, and it was shipped and delivered in only a day. Once i saw the word cordless i ordered it right off the bat. I have curly hair, but i striaghten my hair everyday. This iron is perfect for those touch ups in the bathroom, or one of those bad hair days. It isnt so big that it won't fit in your purse and it comes with a cover so when you're done with it, it can cool down in the case. I deffinatley give this straightener 5 stars, and i think anyone who straightens their hair will love it as much as i do!
Not Worth the money AT ALL

Definitely not worth the money. Cheap design (battery cover already broke, the charger doesn't say in the socket, and the battery only lasts for about 15 minutes--not the 50 that is advertised.) The charger is really heavy..not something you would want to travel with. Way too expensive for the quality. Would return it if I could.
Handy little tool

I got this as a present from my boyfriend, and I thought this is the greatest invention ever. It's great for little touch up's when your out, and it fits in most purses, the only thing is it only lasts about 20 mins max and you only get one use out of it at a time before you have to recharge it. I do like that you can also use it as a regular straightner at home by plugging it in, it heats up fast and it works great.
good iron

Very good that you can take it with you, only one thing. It works for about 20 min, not 50. But otherwise it is very good Iron for travel. It is works in Europe
Not worth the money

Bought this in the hopes I could take it traveling w/ me. The first thing I didn't like, but was going to overlook, was that you had to always use the bulky charger (big black box component) - sorta defeats the purpose if you're trying to travel lite.
Real problem - the device wants you to constantly fuss w/ it and the temperature. If I want it to be the hottest it can, ever time I did a section of hair, I had to push buttons and wait to see the light go to red. As soon as I tried to use it, it went down again to the middle heat level (orange). I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong....but as far as I could tell this device needs too much of my attention. I want to turn it on, set the temp & start using it - it never let that happen. Return it and am sticking w/ my trusty Sedu.
Handy but disappointing

The ionFX cordless iron is a great idea, but it doesn't deliver all it promises. It's very portable and it's wonderful doing your hair without a cord getting in the way. But the ceramic plates aren't as smooth as those on my Bion, and more importantly the battery doesn't last nearly as long as they suggest. I thought I could take it along on short trips, particularly since all I use it for is my bangs. I turn the iron on for 2 minutes and I'm done. Supposedly the battery lasts up to 50 minutes. But on a recent trip, after 6 days and 5 very quick bang-straightenings, the blue power low light came on. If I have to take the power cord along anyway, I'm better off with an iron with smoother plates. I exchanged it at Folica for a Solia, which is bulkier but more effective and sells for less than half the price.
So if you need to carry an iron in your handbag, this is a fabulous tool, but expect to charge it a lot more often than the description suggests.
I wasn't impressed

I returned this item. Whenever I would try and use it with the cord plugged in, it fell out and I had to wait for it to reheat. Finally I just got sick of it and got my old straighner out agin. I was not impressed by any means.
So disappointed

I bought this iron for a trip to Europe. Thought it would be great even at home, throw it in my purse, take it anywhere with me. I have thick hair, but have used many a straightener without major problems. I was so excited to receive this, but patiently charged for the recommended period before I tried it out. I used it for maybe 20 minutes... in that period of time, the battery-low warning light came on, the iron handle became really hot, especially the end where you plug in the charger, it smelled like it was burning, the heat selection button stopped working and so did the on/off switch. I unplugged it, let it cool and it never worked again. I wasn't even on the hottest temperature the whole time. SOOOOOO DISAPPOINTED!! Folica was great about returning though.

I thought that the Iron was a little expensive but I was willing to try it, AFTER ALL IT IS CORDLESS.
I have REALLY THICK wavy hair so I know a good flat Iron from a bad one.
First thing that I couldn't believe was how fast this iron heats up.
I usually have to wait for an iron to REHEAT after one pass through my hair.
I would waste so much time waiting for my CHI to reheat after just one time through my hair.
This iron is ready immediately!
I can't believe that I can now do my hair in 20 minutes instead of 45.
This little iron is the hottest iron I have ever had.
It is so cool that i can take it in my purse and do touch in a ladies room in minutes.
I have actually had to let other women try it, when they see it they can't believe that it works and they want to try it and know where I got it...
I get lots of question in a public restrooms.
Being able to take my flat iron in my purse is worht it's weight in gold!

This little iron is the bomb!!! I can now get touch up's when I need to. I commute to work in the city taking a bus and the subway everyday. My hair doesn't always look the same as when I leave my house. I keep this iron in my purse and now touch up's are easy. I never had expectations that would be even nearly as good as my CHI iron .. but it's actually pretty close which really surprised me. This has got to be the greatest hair invention since the flat iron itself!!!
Awesome IRON!

This has got to be every ladies dream come true!
A flat iron you can carry in your purse and use whenever or where ever you want.
I use it in my car, it heats up in about 15 seconds and is ready when I need it.
I could never travel with my other irons, now this one goes with me every day.
I hate the cords on my other flat irons and I can throw tham all away now.
This is the hottest iron I have ever used and heats up instantly.
It holds its charge for what seems like days.
I use it several times a day for touch ups.
Couldn't live with out it!!
Now all I dream about is a cordless Blow Dryer.
